Inspired by the internal mechanical movement of a fine Swiss watch, this two-person rocking bench is the perfect place to sit and enjoy a warm evening sunset.

Designed and built during a CNC furniture class. The Swiss rocker is made from red oak dowels that vary in size from 2" diameter down to 0.75". The rocker rails are cut from high-quality red oak plywood.

Future versions will use walnut hardwood. Making an all-aluminum park bench version is also being explored.

Clever idea generation and rapid prototyping are my passion. I excel at finding that perfect balance between design and engineering. I love working in the design shop collaborating with a team but also enjoy working alone for focused ideation, allowing my mind to freely explore solutions. I have an insatiable drive to...

“Build the better mousetrap.”

“If a man... Can make better chairs or knives, crucibles or church organs, than anybody else, you will find a broad hard-beaten road to his house, though it be in the woods.“
